There’s a Halloween themed bake sale at work tomorrow, and I didn’t want to turn up empty-handed so it was time to bring out the orange food colouring and get baking!
These cupcakes have the same sponge mix as the double chocolate cupcakes I posted about in the dim and distant past, but are topped with a coloured vanilla buttercream made from:
- 75g butter
- 175g icing sugar
- A few drops of vanilla extract
- ….and plenty of orange food colouring!
I’ve just piped the icing onto the cakes using a star nozzle, and topped with these brilliant bat shaped sugar decorations that I found in John Lewis at the weekend. I’m quite pleased with them – now all I have to do is not drop them on the way in tomorrow!
